Early Childhood Program Description

Pre-School
Pre-school classrooms have a maximum of 10 students. The “ABeka” program is used in all pre-school classrooms. It is a phonics program that also includes daily Bible stories, science, numbers, health, literature, music and art. Along with learning a Bible story, children memorize a Bible verse each week. Children have the opportunity to develop pre-writing skills as they print the alphabet and learn the sound of each letter. Science opens up a whole new area of discovery as the children take part in experiments, learn about animals, opposites, transportation methods, etc.

Pre-Kindergarten
Pre-kindergarten classrooms have a maximum of 14 students. Our pre-k curriculum includes daily Bible stories, memory verses and other moral and spiritual develop0mental activities. The “ABeka” curriculum is used to teach letter recognition and phonics. Pre-kindergarten also includes science, pre-math, literature and music. Learning games and activities enhance motor skills, social development and language.

Early Childhood Program Highlights:

Student attend chapel twice a month.  Students sing sons of praise to Jesus, say the pledge to the American Flag, Christian Flag and the Bible.  They pray together and hear a lesson presented by our church staff, school staff or guest speaker.

Over the course of the year, students have a structured Story Time every other week to enhance the literacy portion of our program.

Students enjoy attending a Music Class each week.  During this time students are taught music that supports our curriculum.  Songs are rehearsed for the Christmas Program and for the Pre-Kindergarten Graduation Program.

Students will have three classroom parties to celebrate Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter.  Room parents volunteer to help make these special day festive and meaningful.  Please note we do not celebrate Halloween and request that no Halloween decorations or costumers be worn to school.  Likewise, we do not mention Santa at Christmas or the Easter Bunny at Easter.  We leave it to the discretion of each family to instruct the children regarding these characters.  At school, the focus is on the Biblical event being celebrated.

Our pre-kindergarten will take a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch during the month of October.
