Communication
FRIDAY FOLDERS: Each teacher sends home a “Friday Folder” with a memo that includes information about events and assignments in the classroom. This folder may contain your child’s work from the week and correspondence from the office. Please check the folder each week.
PARENT MEMOS: Memos are sent on an as needed basis via email. Parents that do not provide an email address will receive a paper copy. The menu and monthly calendar are sent home each month in paper form and are posted on the website.
PARENT/TEACHER COMMUNICATION: The FBCA staff believes good communication between home and school will produce the greatest spiritual and academic gains for children. Parents are urged to communicate regularly with the teacher by phone, email or note in the backpack.
At mid-quarter, teachers will send home progress reports if children are not performing to the best of their ability. The purpose of the progress report is to notify parents of a subject that the student may be struggling. By giving the child extra help at home it may avoid a poor grade on the quarterly report card. Parent/Teacher Conferences are held at the end of the first quarter.
Parents are asked not to engage their child’s teacher in conversation at times when the teacher is responsible for supervising children - during arrival, dismissal, etc. This is a demanding time for the teacher. Poor behavior and lost instruction time can result from the lack of a teacher’s full attention.
